Halfway Well
Dungeon that unlocks after registering 30 monsters to Monster Kingdom.
Shiren won't activate traps when he steps on them in this dungeon,
and he can pick them up and set them on the ground to trap monsters.
Once a trap is set, it can't be picked up again.
Traps have a chance to break when a monster steps on them,
and Shiren can set traps down without ending his turn.

The unlock event occurs the next time you exit Mumyu after registering
30 or more monsters to Monster Kingdom.
The carpenter in Napus Village will offer to take you to Shuten Halfway
or Shuten Summit whenever you talk to them after your first attempt.
Note that you can't bring items into Halfway Well.
Trap Dungeon Basics:
- You can pick up traps as items.
- Setting a trap doesn't end your turn.
- You can only set a trap on the tile you're standing on.
- Shiren's attack power is drastically reduced while he has Trapper status.
- Defeating enemies without using traps only grants 20% exp.
- You also gain experience points when monsters step on traps.
- Throwing a trap at a monster deals a small amount of damage.
- Traps have a chance to break when monsters step on them.
- Traps will never break if there's a Sturdy Trap Statue nearby.
- Pickaxe is the only weapon found on the ground.
- Shields can't be found, except for a Traproid Shield from a Golden Interval.
- Storage Pots can be found, and grasses can only be obtained from shops.
- Chain and Flood traps appear. (Both are exclusive to Shiren 2)
- Reward is a Trapper Bracelet, which grants Trapper status while it's equipped.
Expanding on some of the important points above:
Shiren's attack power is drastically reduced while he has Trapper status.
His attack power hardly grows after Lv3, and completely stops at Lv20.
Put simply, a Lv99 Shiren in Halfway Well is weaker than a Lv6 Shiren elsewhere,
so you basically can't defeat monsters using direct attacks after the first few floors.
That said, it's still worth leveling up in this dungeon to increase max HP.Defeating enemies without using traps only grants 20% exp.
Defeating monsters using traps grants 95% exp, or 75% if a Spoil Trap was used.
A monster stepping on a trap grants 75% exp, so if you find a Sturdy Trap Statue,
you can easily reach Lv99 by chaining traps together.
Other Notes:
The amount of damage dealt by traps like Rockfall Trap increases by 2% per level up.
Despite this, most traps still don't deal enough damage to quickly defeat enemies,
except for Rockslide Trap which scales pretty well.Shiren is immune to statue effects in this dungeon, and they affect monsters instead.
Circle around an Ouch Statue to defeat monsters without Shiren taking damage, etc.Monster Houses can be generated, but Special Monster Houses don't appear.
You'll auto-clear the dungeon the first time you pick up a Trapper Bracelet on 10F~.
After the first clear, the game will prompt you whether you'd like to exit or not when
you either pick up a Trapper Bracelet, or insert or take out a Trapper Bracelet
from a Storage Pot. (Unless you're in a Golden Interval)Golden Stairs have a 100% chance of being generated in a wall between 50~55F.
Traproid Shield can only be obtained inside this dungeon's Golden Interval.
The shield prevents traps from activating when Shiren steps on them.
Basic Strategy
Defeating Enemies
Shiren's attack power is greatly reduced, so direct attacks aren't reliable,
even if you were to slow down or poison a monster beforehand.
Make use of traps, statues, scrolls, and thrown Gitan to defeat monsters.
Let a Froggo steal a large amount of Gitan from you, and then insert the bag
it drops into a Storage Pot and use it as a projectile against a stronger enemy.
Tiny Phoenix, Yamikichi, Gale, Pumphantasm, Weather Doll, and other monsters
that float won't activate the trap when they move onto a tile with a trap,
and Piko Hammers will destroy traps instead of stepping on them.
You'll have to get creative in how you deal with these monsters.
For example, throw Gitan or step on an arrow trap to damage floating monsters,
or step on a landmine or use an Explosion Scroll to wipe out enemies in a 1 tile radius.
You can also read a Trap Trigger Scroll when a floating monster is above a trap.
Piko Hammers can be trapped by swinging a Swap Staff while you're standing on a trap.
Pickaxe Technique
Dig out one wall tile in a room to trick the monster AI into thinking there's a hallway,
letting you either buy some time or trigger a trap along the wall.

Obtaining Food
Onigiri are only found in shops, so you'll have to be creative about obtaining food.
Lure a Nigiri Morph onto a Poison Trap to reduce its strength to 0,
and then have it transform single arrows into Large Onigiri.
Increase max fullness to 200% using this method, and keep a few onigiri on hand.
Onigiri Statues cause monsters to drop an Onigiri when they're defeated.
As a last resort, you can use Spoil Traps to obtain Spoiled Onigiri.
Eat them when there are no enemies nearby, and ideally right after a level up
to minimize the loss of experience points if you get the level down effect.
Leveling Shiren
Set Chain and One-Way traps to create a chain reaction that provides lots
of experience points in a short amount of time.
It's best to wait until you find a Sturdy Trap Statue before setting all of your traps,
and don't set them on room entrance tiles where Piko Hammers can destroy them.
Leveling Enemies
Level up the target monster prior to having them step on traps to gain more exp.
Cranky Tank (2300), Gigahead (3150), and Horse Emperor (3100) are nice options.
Disable the leveled up monster using Strip and Poison traps.

Trap Combos
Set non-damaging traps like Strip, Sleep, Spin, Rust, etc. after One-Way traps
or around Chain traps, which activates traps around it in a clockwise pattern.
If one of the traps is another Chain trap, it'll activate at the end.

Collecting Items
Set a Summon Trap, Trip Stone, and either a Rockslide Trap or Landmine.

Floor Guide
This section assumes you're aiming to reach 99F,
rather than simply obtaining a Trapper Bracelet on 10F to clear the story.
The following floors are either one mid-sized room, or one large room with fog:
4, 5, 13, 23, 30, 31, 39, 40, 55, 57, 71, 80, 81, 90.
1-3F
1F enemies can be defeated using direct attacks, so pick up all traps and items.
Try to obtain Storage Pots and other items if you find a Trip Stone.
You can gain a bit more exp by punching an enemy and then making it trip.
Mid Chintalas appear on 2F, but it's not difficult to defeat them if you use traps.
Spin Trap + Summon Trap can be used to create a Cave Mamel or Big Chintala,
which can then be lured onto a trap activation chain to level up Shiren.
If it goes well, you can end up reaching Lv30 or so.
4-7F
Monsters include Bow Boy (4~7F) and Piko Hammer (4~10F).
The floor is always a single room with fog between 4~5F.
Piko Hammer roams around the map and destroys any traps it sees,
making it one of the most troublesome monsters inside Halfway Well.
It's possible to trap it by swinging a Swap Staff while Shiren is standing on a trap.
It only has 13 HP, so you could swing a Tunnel Staff to deal 10 damage,
and then finish it off with a punch.
You can use knockback damage from an Armordillo Bro's tackle to level it up,
and then use a trap activation chain to level up Shiren.
Store traps inside a Storage Pot, and leave the pot on the ground.
Shiren will struggle to defeat enemies using direct attacks from here on out.
It's still possible to defeat enemies with 5 or so punches at this point,
but by 10F it'll be nearly impossible to fight using direct attacks.
8-9F
Boy Cart (8~9F), Ironhead (9~11F), Nigiri Morph (8~10F), and Gale (9~10F) appear.
Lower a Nigiri Morph's strength to 0 using a Poison Trap, and have it make onigiri.
Leave important items on the ground, and aim to increase max fullness to 200%.
Collect Iron Arrows from a Boy Cart if you have a Great Hall Scroll.
Arrows don't deal much damage here, but are used to check for enemies in hallways.
Level up a Boy Cart or Ironhead into a Cranky Tank or Gigahead for experience points.
You can get by at Lv30 or so, but it's best to reach Lv99 here using a Sturdy Trap Statue.
Shiren will have about 500 max HP at Lv99, greatly reducing the risk of collapsing.
Gale (9~10F) acts as the final challenge for picking up a Trapper Bracelet on 10F.
Gale moves at double speed and is immune to traps since it floats.
Have Shiren step on a Landmine or Poison Trap to dispose of them.
10-19F
Trapper Bracelets can be found on every floor starting on 10F.
Select stay when you pick it up if you want to continue playing the dungeon,
and place it on the ground → pick it up again when you're ready to go home.
Keep in mind, the bracelet takes up an inventory slot that could be used
for a useful trap or item if you decide to carry it for later.
Prioritize traps that can one-shot enemies like Spoil Trap and Landmine,
since traps like Log, Arrow, and Rockfall won't be enough to defeat enemies soon.
Remember to also collect traps to help evade enemies, such as Spring and Pitfall.
Landmine Ninja (10~12F, 22~24F, 40~42F, 59~63F, 81~83F) appears at times,
so linger around and defeat them to stock up on Landmines if possible.
It won't drop a Landmine if it's defeated by a trap, so you'll want to use Poison
and Rust traps to lower its attack and defense to 0, and then use direct attacks.
Poko Hammer (15~35F) makes an appearance.
It has high HP and attack, so use the Swap Staff technique to defeat it.
Explosion Scrolls can also be used, but you should save those for Kamikaze.
If Evil Kangaroo (17~21F) drops a Heal Staff, keep at least one for Kamikaze.
20-39F
Dangerous monsters include Sky Dragon (20~30F) and Monarch Tusker (20~26F).
Beware of Monarch Tusker's Slow Staff, as it can slow you from a distance.
Archdragon doesn't spawn in Halfway Well, so 30F is the last of the Dragon family.
Again, if Evil Kangaroo (17~21F) drops a Heal Staff, keep one for Kamikaze.
Kamikaze has exactly 100 HP, so a Heal Staff swing will one-shot it.
40-49F
Kamikaze (41~49F) and Pako Hammer (45~60F) appear.
Kamikaze moves at triple speed, attacks 3 times per turn, and is immune to traps.
Use items like Heal Staff, Explosion Scroll, Landmine, etc. to defeat them.
Escaping with Springs or Pitfalls is also an option.
Pako Hammer can be dealt with using traps and a Swap Staff like earlier.
Consider picking up a Trapper Bracelet if you don't already have one,
as accidents can happen and at least you wouldn't go home empty handed.
50-55F
Golden Stairs can always be found inside a breakable wall tile between 50~55F.
However, it won't be generated if there are no breakable walls on the floor,
so make sure the proper condition is met before reading a Great Hall Scroll.
To reduce risk, go around the map a bit and defeat some enemies beforehand.
56-60F
The Moat Koi castle decoration can be found starting on 50F.
If you're not aiming for 99F, go ahead and escape from the dungeon
after obtaining a Traproid Shield and Moat Koi castle decoration.
61-85F
Monsters like Porkon (55~72F) and Lashagga (60~87F) appear.
They both hit hard, but are easier to deal with than Kamikaze and Pako Hammer.
All monsters except Tiny Phonix can be trapped on these floors.
86-99F
Stun Scorpion and Emperor Tusker can defeat you in an instant even at Lv99,
so be very cautious of them and take things one step at a time.
Typhoon doesn't appear in Halfway Well, so it's easier to reach 99F from this point
compared to other post-game dungeons, as long as you act carefully.
The dungeon loops endlessly after 99F, so unless you have reason otherwise,
go ahead and return to Napus Village using a Trapper Bracelet on 99F.
Golden Interval
Strategy
There's a 100% chance for Golden Stairs to be hidden in a wall tile between 50~55F.
You'll return to 56F after exiting from the Golden Interval area.
Golden Interval maps are shuffle type, so Tunnel Staff and Pitfalls can't be used,
and you can't escape from the dungeon using a Trapper Bracelet.
There are no traps, and Gitan is the only item that can be found on the ground,
so you'll need to rely on the items you gathered prior to entering the area.
Insert Gitan into Storage Pots and use the bags as projectiles.
Pako Hammers appear, so use the Swap Staff technique alongside
a Poison Trap, Spoil Trap, or Landmine to deal with them.
There number of map patterns for Golden Intervals is surprisingly low,
so you can narrow down where the exit is by comparing maps.
A Trapper Bracelet won't be generated on 56F after exiting the Golden Interval,
so you'll need to proceed to 57F to find one if you didn't pick one up earlier.
