Asura Realm
A PSP version exclusive series favorite daytime-only unidentified items post-game dungeon.
The premise might sound similar to Bayside Monster Cave, but the dungeon plays out very differently
due to an adjusted item and monster table, along with a guaranteed Monster House every 10 floors.
The best items like Monster Detector, Wall Clip Bracelet, and Revival Grass are Elite Shop exclusive,
and Pick-A-Choice shops don't appear so you're quite unlikely to obtain them in a run.
※ Amnesia Grass, Disaster Seed, and Imabikiso can be found on the ground.
One could say where Bayside Monster Cave focuses on run away play using powerful items,
Asura Realm focuses on upgrading Shiren and using consumable items to cut down monsters.
Overview
Unlock | Go to Novice House after clearing the main story. |
---|---|
Entrance | Boronga Village (Girl in Novice House) |
Strategy
General
Shops appear every 6~7 floors on average, so item identification is on the easier side.
Combined with fixed Monster Houses, you usually won't run out of items from mid game onward.
However, items like Monster Detector, Wall Clip Bracelet, Breeze Blade, and Revival Grass are Elite Shop exclusive.
Rocks, arrows, and talismans are never found on the ground, so it's important to collect arrows from Boy Carts.
Upgrade Equipment
Read Heaven or Earth scrolls and synthesize items to increase upgrade value and add runes.
Status inflicting runes like Sedating are particularly effective, along with type effective runes.
It's easy to overlook them, but HP+20 and HP+15 are also excellent.
Increase Strength
There are 2 items capable of increasing max strength - Strength Grass and Chocolate Banana.
Chocolate Pots and Suction Scrolls are somewhat common, so the idea is to eat Chocolate Bananas
at full HP until you get the strength increasing effect, then advance to the next floor and repeat.
※ Each Chocolate Banana effect can only activate 1 time per floor.
Chocolate Banana Effects
- Fully restore HP - Only activates if current HP is less than max HP.
- Increase strength by 1 - Same effect as Strength Grass.
- Identifier status - Pick up items to identify them.
- Alert status - Same as having an Alert Bracelet equipped.
- Silent status - Napping monsters won't wake up from your footsteps.
- Unwavering status - Same as having a Cleansing Bracelet equipped.
- Satiated status - Natural fullness depletion stops.
Avoid Eating Unidentified Grass
The following grasses can be found on the ground on non-fixed Monster House floors:
- Imabikiso - Inventory items become cursed or sealed.
- Disaster Seed - Decrease Shiren's level to 1.
- Amnesia Grass - Forget all identified items.
Eating any of these usually ends a run, so it's best to avoid eating unidentified grasses.
Shops are on the common side, so wait until you find a shop and identify grasses by price.
※ The ones to avoid have a buying / selling price of 2000 / 700, and 5000 / 1750.
Fixed Monster Houses
Fixed Monster Houses appear every 10 floors, and all of them have breakable walls.
If you start the floor near a wall, one option is to dig out a few tiles and fight enemies 1 vs 1.
If you prefer to rush stairs, use Confusion or Slumber scroll, Pinning and Swap staves, and Swift Grass.
New monsters don't spawn on fixed Monster House floors, so you can take your time collecting items.
Excluding equipment, items found on the ground or dropped by enemies on these floors are never sealed,
are never disguised N'dubba types, and generally don't have a super negative effect.
So using items to identify them is on the safer side.
Despite new enemies not spawning, don't neglect to check for traps - Monster Trap can be disastrous.
Winning Strategy
This works on any Monster House, but Confusion Scroll or Swift Grass is needed if Spin Polygon types appear.
If you see Mixers, use Confusion Scroll → Transient Staff to warp them to the stairs if possible.
Don't forget to check for traps when stepping out of the tunnel.
- Needed items
- Tunnel Staff, Pinning Staff, Pierce Bracelet, Banana Peel, 2~3 Gitan bags
- Steps
- Swing Tunnel Staff toward a wall, then swing Pinning Staff in the same direction.
- Take 1~2 steps forward, place the Banana Peel, retreat 1~2 steps.
- Equip Pierce Bracelet and step in place until an enemy steps on the Banana Peel.
- Throw Gitan bags to defeat the line of monsters, then finish off any remaining monsters.
Otherwise, reading 2 Air Slash Scrolls in a row wipes out most early ~ mid game Monster Houses.
Equipment
Weapon
- Water Cutter
- Deals more damage to Aquatic types - Gyaza, Hopodile, Slime, Zalokleft, Squid King, etc.
- The ideal main weapon, especially if you find it before Gyaza (21-26F) floors.
- Drain Slicer
- Deals more damage to Drain types - Absorbiphant, Scorpion, Spin Polygon.
- It's great to be able to one-shot Absorbiphant types.
- Myopic Masher
- Deals more damage to Cyclops types - Ironhead, Foly, Gazer, Explochin.
- Makes it easier to deal with hard-hitting Ironheads and tricky Gazers.
- Meteor Edge, Red Blade
- 2 bracelet resonance isn't really important, but these still have high attack power.
- Red Blade is a bit questionable due to its low rune slots and slow growth rate.
- Dotanuki, Beast Fang
- Usable if you raise upgrade value, but generally not as good as the above options.
Runes
See Runes for details.
Priority Chart
Priority | Runes |
---|---|
Top | Anti-Aquatic, Anti-Floating, Anti-Drain, Sedating, Paralyzing, Bored |
High | Anti-Cyclops, Anti-Dragon, Confusing, Blinding, Charge |
Mid | Anti-Bomb, Quick Hitting, HP+15, HP+20 |
Low | HP+5, HP+10 |
※ Runes that require Elite Shop items are excluded.
Shield
- Red Shield
- Gains 1/2 Fire and Anti-Peck at Lv8.
- Meteor Guard
- Gains Rustproof at Lv5 and Anti-Theft at Lv8.
- Lizard Shield
- Innate 1/2 Fire, gains Counter at Lv8, but very slow growth rate.
- Beast Shield, Clan Shield
- Usable if you raise upgrade value, but generally not as good as the above options.
- Gyadon Blocker
- Shop exclusive - Provides the Anti-Peck rune when synthesized.
Runes
See Runes for details.
Priority Chart
Priority | Runes |
---|---|
Top | 1/2 Fire, 1/2 Blast, Agile, Counter, HP+15, HP+20 |
High | Anti-Peck, HP+10 |
Mid | Anti-Theft, Anti-Burgle, HP+5 |
Low | 1 HP |
※ Runes that require Elite Shop items are excluded.
Bracelets
- Heal Bracelet
- Quickly recover HP after fighting a powerful monster or stepping on a landmine.
- Pierce Bracelet
- Throw Gitan or shoot arrows to wipe out enemies in fixed Monster Houses.
- Cleansing Bracelet
- Keep it equipped on Mesmerikon (91-95F) floors.
- Alert Bracelet
- Keep it equipped on Dozikon (62-66F) floors.
- Holy Bracelet
- Prevents inventory items from getting cursed or sealed.
- Keep it equipped on Curse Mom (51-53F) and Curse Gramma (79-82F) floors.
- Strength Bracelet
- Equipping 2 of these using 2 bracelet resonance can be quite strong.
- Warp Bracelet
- Nice to have for certain map types and avoiding surprise attacks in hallways.
- Bad Aim Bracelet
- Trap monsters, throw Banana Peels to make enemies slip.
Other Items
See Identifying Items for an in-depth identification guide.
Grass
It's best to save grass until you encounter a shop or reach Mixer floors (12-14F) instead of eating them,
especially since Imabikiso, Disaster Seed, and Amnesia Grass can be found on the ground in this dungeon.
Once you've checked prices, it's recommended to wait until you have a second copy before eating it.
※ Positive effect 2000 or 5000 buying price grasses are never found on the ground.
Price Notes
100 / 35 --- 4 Types
- Warp (Anti-Floating), Antidote (Anti-Drain)
- High priority runes.
- Warp Grass is nice to have if you need to escape from a bad situation.
- Otogiriso (HP+10)
- Check for this by synthesizing the grass into a shield before a weapon.
- Poison
- Grass dropped by Mutaikon (9, 11-12F) is always this grass.
300 / 105 --- 8 Types
- Sight (Anti-Cyclops), Dizzy (Confusing), Blind (Blinding)
- Lower priority runes, but a bit more important in this dungeon.
500 / 175 --- 5 Types
- Dragon (Anti-Dragon, 1/2 Fire), Sleep (Sedating)
- High priority runes.
- Attempt synthesis with shields first when throwing 500G grasses.
- Life (HP+20)
- Excellent option for both weapons and shields.
- Rage, Strength
- Not easy to differentiate between these two without eating or throwing the grass.
Scroll
It's best to save scrolls until you encounter a shop or reach 10F instead of reading them right away.
This is because you want to keep an eye out for 1000 buying price scrolls in case it's an Air Slash Scroll
or Confusion Scroll, which greatly improves your odds of surviving the first fixed Monster House on 10F.
Desert Scroll (Anti-Aquatic) and Lost Scroll (Bored) provide top priority runes,
so consider saving 800 and 3000 buying price scrolls until Mixer (12-14F) floors.
Banana Scroll is the only dangerous 500G scroll, and Plating Scroll is Elite Shop exclusive.
Blind Reading
Squid King (3-5F) can inflict Blind status with its special attack, which can be used to determine
if the scrolls you have are selection-based scrolls or not.
Some like to name unknown selection-based scrolls along the lines of "?As", "?Bs", and so on.
※ It's not safe to name them as 500G price range scrolls until after Identify Scroll has been identified.
Staff
Staves are among the most reliable items in the game, so try to conserve them as much as possible.
Synthesize staves to save inventory space and identify remaining use counts.
Seals on staves can be removed by synthesizing a non-sealed staff last.
Talisman
Talismans can't be identified by price, and are never found on the ground in this dungeon.
They're very useful for Monster Houses, so try to conserve them if you buy some from a shop.
However, keep in mind that thrown talismans can miss.
Pot
Sturdy, Ordinary, 4-2-8, and Chocolate pots are hard to identify, so it's fine to use Identify Scrolls on pots.
Use Chocolate Pots to try and increase strength instead of using it as a storage container.
11000~11500 buying price pots are almost always Degrade Pots.
Food
It's best to wait until bananas turn into Ripe Bananas before eating them.
That said, Grilled Bananas are valuable for their HP restoring side effect, so consider grilling some bananas
once you have a decent stock of Ripe Bananas and starvation isn't a big concern.
Other
Projectiles
- Wood Arrow - Collect from Boy Cart (5-7F).
- Iron Arrow - Collect from Cross Cart (7-9F).
- Gitan - Found on the ground, use a Sale Pot, or hunt Froggo types.
Floor Guide
1-4F
There's no reason to linger, so check rooms for items and advance to the next floor.
Don't use unidentified grass or scrolls until you find a shop and have had a chance to check prices.
This is because you want to have the best chance of having an Air Slash Scroll on hand and ready for 10F.
If your inventory is full, have a Squid King (3-5F) inflict Blind status on you, then use selection-based scrolls.
If that's still not enough to free inventory space, you could use pots or eat duplicate grass.
Swing unidentified staves at Pit Mamel (2-4F) to identify them.
※ Happy Staff can't be found on the ground.
5-9F
Collect Wood Arrows from Boy Cart (5-7F) and Iron Arrows from Cross Cart (7-9F) - Tips and Tricks for details.
Shoot arrows at a wall and have Field Knave (6-7F) turn single arrows into Weeds to conserve food.
Foly's room-wide lightning attack can be a problem on 9F, so avoid spending time in large rooms.
Snacky (8-9F) can also cause accidents.
10F
Monster House - Flamepuff, Squid Lord, Spin Polygon, Dagger Bee, Beanie.
The first notable wall of this dungeon, which can be hard to overcome without certain items.
- Air Slash Scroll
- 1 is enough to weakn enemies to the point where 1 attack finishes them off.
- Rusty Pickaxe or Tunnel Staff
- Dig and retreat into a wall to avoid being overwhelmed by enemies.
- Flamepuff can blow fire through corners, so dig 2 tiles.
- Use Confusion Scroll, Fear Scroll, or Swift Grass before digging to evade Spin Polygons.
- Dig and retreat into a wall to avoid being overwhelmed by enemies.
11-19F
Mixers (12-14F) overlap with Crow Tengu and Foly on 12F, so wait until 13F to start synthesizing items.
Weapon - Status runes, Anti-Aquatic, Anti-Floating, Anti-Drain > Anti-Cyclops, HP+20, HP+15, Anti-Bomb, etc.
Shield - 1/2 Fire, 1/2 Blast, Agile, Counter, HP+20, HP+15, etc.
Porky (12-16F) can drop Porky Rocks, which can be used to check for incoming enemies.
Gyadon (14-16F) and Curse Girl (14-16F) destroy items, and Zapdon (15-18F) can surprise you in hallways.
Save 2 or so Gitan bags dropped by Froggucci (17-19F) to use as a projectile.
Do your best to conserve healing items like Otogiriso and Heal Grass.
20F
Monster House - Mixermon, MC Mage, Banana Morph, Pumphantom, Chainhead.
Creating a hallway isn't enough to safely wipe out enemies.
The Anti-Floating and Anti-Cyclops runes make it easier to deal with Pumphantom and Chainhead.
MC Mage can inflict Confused and Blind status, so be sure to disable it if you're lined up.
Consider using a Transient Staff on a Mixermon for synthesis, or a Banana Morph for obtaining food.
If you decide to perform Banana Morph Factory, it helps to have Sight Grass or Trap Erase Scroll,
along with Poison Grass to throw at Banana Morph (Poison Arrows are hard to obtain in this dungeon).
※ Banana Morph Factory isn't necessary unless you use Heal Bracelet a lot.
21-24F
Lots of power types, so you typically consume more items than you gain if you try to check every room.
Use items like arrows, Banana Peel, Slow or Mage staves against power types that aren't Gyaza (21-26F).
Kappa Pest (23-25F) makes it difficult to obtain items found on the ground, and Curse Sister (23-25F)
and Grime (24-27F) can wreck items.
If you plan on switching to Water Cutter as a main weapon on upcoming Mixermon floors,
now would be a good time to level the weapon up a bit.
25-29F
Mixermon (25-27F) provides a second chance to synthesize items.
Do your best to aim for these runes at minimum:
- Weapon - Status runes (2 or more), Anti-Aquatic, Anti-Floating, Anti-Drain, Anti-Cyclops
- Shield - 1/2 Fire, 1/2 Blast, Agile, Counter, HP+20
Use items against Eligan (26-29F) and Banana Morph (27-29F).
It's fine to use direct attacks against MC Mage (26-29F) if it's a 1 vs 1 fight.
30F
Monster House - Nuttie, Blazepuff, Lt. Yanpii, Gyairas, Falcon Tengu.
Nuttie and Lt. Yanpii have high attack power, so trading hits isn't the best idea.
Use an Air Slash Scroll to weaken enemies first, then create and retreat into a tunnel to fight 1 vs 1.
Confusion Scroll is handy, but it can result in Lv3~4 enemies if monsters defeat each other.
Gyairas pecks scrolls and talismans, so insert those items in pots to keep them safe.
31-34F
Search for items that counter end game monsters like Steady Shield, Cleansing Bracelet, and Alert Bracelet.
Notable monsters:
- Chainhead (29-34F) - High attack power.
- N'mach (31-39F) - Disguises itself as an item.
- Super Gazer (31-33F) - Potentially wrecks items.
- Voltdon (33-37F) - Deadly surprise attacks in hallways.
- Grampa Tank (31-35F) - Cannonballs deal 30 damage without 1/2 Blast.
- Digestiphant (31-35F) - Can make it hard to deal with bigger threats.
35-39F
Nuttie (38-39, 41-43F) and Lt. Yanpii (39, 41-43F) hit hard, but other monsters aren't too threatening.
There's risk of a Scarabbit (36-38F) leveling up into a Horrabbit thanks to Crunchy (37-39F),
which often results in a game over if you happen to be shopping.
40F
Monster House - Pandanigiri, Squid Emperor, Curse Mom, Tiger Chucker, Mixergon
Keep a Holy Bracelet equipped to protect against the Tiger Chucker → Curse Mom instant curse combo.
Squid Emperor will mostly likely blind you immediately after you act at the start of the floor,
so if you're going to read a scroll, read it on the very first turn.
The usual Tunnel Staff → Pinning Staff combo works well if you have a Holy Bracelet.
Otherwise, it's best to read a Confusion Scroll on the first turn to counter Squid Emperor.
41-44F
A leveled up Water Cutter can one-shot Ooze (41-49F) and Killer Gyaza (41-46F).
You might lose a rune if your direct attack misses against Ooze, but Mixergon is coming up soon.
Beware of Rally Ham (42-46F) boosting Lt. Yanpii (39-43F), Nuttie (38-43F), or Katana Bee (42-49F).
45-49F
Floor range where you can hunt monsters to level up your weapon and shield.
Ooze (41-49F), Katana Bee (42-49F), Spongiderm (43-46F) can be one-shot if you have the corresponding
type effective rune (Anti-Aquatic, Anti-Floating, and Anti-Drain) along with a decent amount of strength.
Pandanigiri (45-49F) can drop Onigiri, potentially making it easier to linger while hunting monsters.
Save 5 or so Gitan bags dropped by Froggon (46-48F) to be used as a projectile.
Mixergon (47-49F) provides another chance to synthesize items.
Prepare a Meteor Guard or Red Shield with Unmoving (Steady Shield) if you have the items on hand.
50F
Monster House - Gigahead, Oingodile, Blazepuff, Stun Scorp, Hyper Gazer.
Oingodile's chess knight movement, Gigahead's attack power, and Hyper Gazer's hypnosis are all dangerous.
Monsters with ranged attacks don't appear in this Monster House, so Tunnel Staff → Pinning Staff is effective.
But trading hits will quickly wear you down, so use staves to disable monsters or read a scroll and rush stairs.
Stun Scorp is particularly dangerous if you don't have a Cleansing Bracelet or Staunch Bracelet.
51-59F
If you've found a Steady Shield and Alert Bracelet, rush stairs instead of checking rooms for items.
Otherwise, only check for items on 51-52F - Rush stairs from 53-59F.
Tiger Chucker (51-53F) can throw Curse Mom (51-53F) to instantly curse 2 items on the same turn.
Sky Dragon (49-53F) and Banana Boss (53-57F) overlap on 53F, so don't get turned into a Grilled Banana.
MC Wizard (53-57F) can end your run if it inflicts Berserk status on you, so always Scout in rooms.
Read a Dispel Aura Scroll if you have one on 53F to remove the threat of yellow aura monsters.
Item Knave (55-59F) and Vexing Kappa (56-59F) make it impractical to search for items,
and Porkon (57-59F) chips away at your HP with Porky Rocks from 6 tiles away.
60F
Monster House - Mixerdon, Sludge, Grainie, Pumpanshee, Zanbeeto
Monsters with ranged attacks don't appear in this Monster House, so Tunnel Staff → Pinning Staff is effective.
The easiest strategy is to equip a Pierce Bracelet and throw high value Gitan to wipe out monsters.
However, you might miss some Pumpanshees due to their random movement.
61-63F
Horrabbit (61-63F) appears, so keep a Steady Shield equipped and rush stairs.
Gigahead (58-64F) deals a ridiculous amount of damage with a Steady Shield, so don't get hit.
Keep an Alert Bracelet equipped on Dozikon (62-66F) floors if you have one.
Otherwise, use Navigation Scroll + Pierce Bracelet to snipe enemies, Warp Bracelet to avoid hallways,
or keep a Cleansing Bracelet equipped to avoid being slowed after getting hit by Sleep Grass.
64-69F
Easier floor range if you have an Alert Bracelet and the Anti-Peck rune on your shield.
If you don't have the above, rush stairs on Dozikon (62-66F) and Gyandora (66-69F) floors.
Gyandora only pecks pots, so keep key items like synthesized staves outside of Storage Pots.
Beware of the Ornery Tank (65-67F) and Twinkle Bird (61-65F) combo on 65F.
Mixerdon (68-69F) is your final chance to synthesize items without a Synthesis Pot.
Equipment synthesis is usually finished at this point, so combine staves to free up inventory space.
Some players like to hunt Jouncy (63-67F) to level up Lizard Shield and Blast Shield as secondary shields
for Archdragon and Cranky Tank floors toward the end of the dungeon.
70F
Monster House - MC Sorcerer, Eligagon, Huge Chintala, Detonachin, Curse Gramma.
MC Sorcerer can inflict Slow and Banana statuses, so do everything you can to not get hit by its special attack.
Curse Gramma curses 2 items at a time, but the rest of the monsters shouldn't be too hard to deal with.
It's up to you whether you want to try and wipe out the Monster House for items, or rush stairs.
71-74F
Hell Gyaza (72-79F) and Detonachin (77-79F) are easy to deal with if you're using Water Cutter.
Spirit Ham (72-76F) boosts attack power and defense by 2 stages, which is bad if it's next to a power type
such as Grainie (71-72F), Boss Yanpii (71-73F), Zanbeeto (71-74F), Onigirizzly (74-78F), or Hell Gyaza.
Sludge (71-79F) can erase runes and there aren't any Mixer floors left, so use a Seal Staff.
If you've found Cleansing Bracelet and have 10+ uses of Transient, Pinning, and Swap staves left,
go ahead and rush stairs from this point until the end of the dungeon instead of checking rooms for items.
75-79F
MC Sorcerer (75-79F) can easily end a run if it inflicts Slow and Banana statuses, so rush stairs.
That said, if you still don't have a Cleansing Bracelet, it might be worth the risk to check rooms for items.
The only other monsters with very dangerous abilities is Hell Gyaza and Sludge up until 78F.
Curse Gramma appears on 79F though, so hurry to the stairs on that floor.
80F
Monster House - Gitan Mamel, Boingodile, Mosh Polygon, Pumptergeist, Blight Scorp
The usual Tunnel Staff → Pinning Staff into Pierce Bracelet + throwing high value Gitan combo works well.
However, you'll need to use Swift Grass or Confusion Scroll at the start to counter Mosh Polygons.
This floor has a higher chance for HP restoring items like Heal Grass and Heal Pot of being generated,
so try to wipe out monsters and claim the items instead of rushing stairs if possible.
Save the 2000 Gitan bags dropped by Gitan Mamel to be used as a projectile.
81-89F
It's best to rush stairs even if you still haven't been able to find a Cleansing Bracelet.
Curse Gramma (81-82F), Shihan (81-83F), and Banana Master (87-89F) can cause item loss.
Kappa Troll (82-84F) throws items found on the ground from anywhere on the floor.
Archdragon (82-87F) and Porgon (86-89F) chip away at your HP - It should be fine if you have 2~3 Heal Pots,
but otherwise it's best to keep a Heal Bracelet equipped at all times provided you have enough food.
※ Archdragon and Banana Master overlap on 87F - Don't get turned into a Grilled Banana.
90F
Monster House - Doom Gyaza, Kodionigiri, Gyandoron, Elizgagon, Cyberoid
Doom Gyaza is dangerous, but otherwise this Monster House should be easy.
Use Tunnel Staff → Pinning Staff → Pierce Bracelet + a bag of 2000 Gitan to wipe out monsters.
If you don't have any Tunnel Staff uses left, use Swift Grass against Doom Gyaza.
It's best to descend the stairs on 90F with full HP + a Cleansing Bracelet equipped,
since you could start 91F within Mesmerikon's Rage Grass throwing range if you're unlucky.
91-95F
It goes without saying, but rush stairs from this point until the end.
Mesmerikon (91-95F), Shine Bird (91-99F), Gitan Mamel (91-93F), and Cranky Tank (94-99F) are dangerous.
Cleansing Bracelet and the Counter rune on your shield increases your survival rate if you go berserk.
Read a Dispel Aura Scroll if you have one, then Navigation Scroll, followed by Trap Erase Scroll.
If you don't have a Cleansing Bracelet, you'll have to snipe enemies using Navigation Scroll + Pierce Bracelet,
or avoid hallways by equipping a Warp Bracelet - But walk instead of stepping in place when you want to warp
so that enemies don't get to act after you land in a room.
If you don't have any of the above items, keep a Heal Bracelet equipped, and maybe read a Mon House Scroll
on 90F to turn 91F into a single room - It can be easier depending on your other items.
Stairs? Traps can be generated starting on 91F, so use this technique or a Transient Staff to check.
※ Real stairs are never generated in rooms with doors or moving walls.
96-99F
Continue to rush stairs until the end.
Ultra Gazer (96-99F), Shine Bird (91-99F), and Cranky Tank (94-99F) are particularly dangerous.
Keep items like Swift Grass, Warp Grass, Confusion Scroll, Slumber Scroll outside of pots to counter hypnosis.
If Shine Birds multiply from Cranky Tank's blasts, use Pierce Bracelet + Gitan to wipe them out.
Alternatively, you could use a scroll and run away instead.
