Postgame dungeon where most items found on the ground are staves or scrolls.
Equipment, Revival Grass, and Strength Grass are rare, so it quickly becomes tough to fight monsters.
However, many powerful staves and scrolls can be found, so it's actually not very difficult.
Overall, it's a nice place to visit to collect lots of Blank Scrolls once you've unlocked Escape Scroll.
Strategy
General
Blank Scroll and Eradication Scroll are both extremely common compared to other dungeons.
Eradication Scroll is also very useful in other dungeons so it's best to record it in the notebook ASAP,
and Blank Scrolls can be used to upgrade equipment, increase the capacity of pots, etc.
It looks like a dungeon that emphasizes evasive play at first glance, but you can earn exp like normal,
so the dungeon is closer to Doras Trial (Asuka Kenzan) rather than The Pinnacle (Shiren 5).
Farming techniques are usually easy to perform thanks to the generous item table, too.
Monster Houses seem to have a higher chance of being generated compared to other dungeons.
Special Monster Houses can also appear, and 20F is guaranteed to be a single room Monster House.
Therefore, always keep at least 1 item capable of dealing with a Monster House on hand.
The item table does not include the following useful scrolls:
Monstercall, Slot-adding, Pot-upsize, Heavenly, Earthly, Plating, Expulsion.
Visit Training Path of Extra Inference and Isle of the Mighty if you wish to unlock the rarer scrolls.
Important Items
Peach Staff and Disguising Staff must be unlocked through events before they can be found.
All staves and scrolls are identified from the start in this dungeon.
Equipment
This dungeon almost always has 1 Bronze Sword and 1 Wooden Shield on the ground within 1-5F.
Generally speaking, no other equipment can be found aside from the following monster drops:
- Spearscale Shield - Spearfish (1-2F), Lt. Spearfish (11-12F / 14F)
- Axe of the Minotaur - Minotaur (16-20F)
Staves
Fortune Staff
Swing this at a Pit Mamel (2-3F) to create a Cave Mamel, then hunt the Cave Mamel for 2000 exp.
Disguising Staff
Powerful staff that should generally be saved for when you need to control a crowd of monsters.
That said, it's fine to use it to create Cave Mamels to level up a few times.
Peach Staff
Instantly defeats any monster (excluding Hoppin' Batter family) by turning it into a Peach Bun.
Useful Peach Buns:
Armordillo (3-4F) → Make enemies trip and drop items.
Pumphantasm (3-4F) → Gain the ability to pass through walls.
Karakuroid (4-5F) or Tengu Monk D (12-16F) → Grant yourself swift action speed.
Masked Samurai (5-10F) → Eat the Peach Bun before collapsing to revive as Ghost Samurai.
Crossbowboy (7-10F) → Collect Iron Arrows.
Paralyzing Staff, Narrow-escape Staff
Prevents the target from acting until the target gets hit by an attack or effect.
Keep in mind that Ghost Samurai or monk family buffs can cure Paralyzed status.
Earthmound Staff
Mainly used to seal off a room to ensure safety before performing an item farming technique.
Vaulting Staff, Switching Staff
Movement related staves for when you need to escap a bad situation.
Great for rushing to the stairs in a Monster House or evading a strong foe in a hallway.
Sluggish Staff
Loop step away → attack to safely defeat most monsters that have normal action speed.
Unlucky Staff
Nice to have on Masked Samurai (5-10F) floors in particular to undo enemy level ups.
Not a high priority to carry during the second half, since many monsters are Lv1.
Scrolls
Blank Scroll
Write the name of any scroll listed in your notebook, then use this as that scroll.
Some players like to write Monstercall Scroll early on to collect more items.
Collection Scroll
Warps all items on the floor to your surroundings, excluding shop merchandise.
Can be used to collect items from a Monster House without risk.
Confusion Scroll, Slumber Scroll
Scrolls that help out in Monster Houses or if you otherwise end up surrounded by monsters.
Confusion can result in leveled up monsters in small rooms, and Slumber is geared toward rushing stairs.
Don't forget that Disguising Staff is another excellent crowd control option.
Sanctuary Scroll
Place it on the ground and stand on it to safely deal with a Monster House or crowd of monsters.
Some players use one on Masked Samurai (5-10F) floors to level up if they couldn't hunt Cave Mamels.
Not as effective on 7-10F (Bowboy / Crossbowboy) and 16-20F (Pop Tank, Explochin, etc.).
Eradication Scroll
Throw this at a monster to make that monster family no longer spawn during the current adventure.
If another scroll is thrown at a different monster, the first monster family can spawn again.
Good targets:
Pumphantasm (3-4F), Masked Samurai (5-10F), Okina Monk D (12-16F), Polygon Shaka (15-20F).
Windblade Scroll, Expulsion Scroll
Reading 2 Windblade Scrolls in a row is enough to clear out most Monster Houses (Non-Special).
If you've unlocked Expulsion in your notebook, write it on a Blank Scroll to wipe out any Monster House.
That said, Expulsion is only found in Isle of the Mighty, so you likely won't have it available yet.
Other Items
Preservation Pot
The usual inventory space expansion item. It's on the uncommon side in this dungeon.
If you find one, consider writing Pot-upsize on Blank Scrolls to increase its capacity to 6.
Ordinary Pot, Identifier Pot, Exorcism Pot
Use these as extra storage for duplicate items that you won't need to use right away.
Grass is rare, so it's not worth carrying around an Identifier Pot for identification purposes.
Transmutation Pot
This pot has an incredibly high chance of morphing inserted items into Blank Scrolls in this dungeon.
Write Extraction on Blank Scrolls to endlessly reuse it instead of breaking it to retrieve contents.
Mapping Scroll, Guiding Staff, Burrowing Staff
Save these for rushing to the stairs between 11-20F instead of wasting them on easier floors.
Wooden Arrow, Iron Arrow
Obtained from Bowboy or Crossbowboy (7-10F) using a Peach Staff or Earthmound Staff.
Single arrows are also excellent for inserting into Transmutation Pot.
Farming Techniques
Fortune Staff or Disguising Staff for Experience Points
Create a Cave Mamel and defeat it or swing a Fortune Staff at a bouncy wall for 2000 experience points.
Knockback Staff, Burrowing Staff, Thunderbolt Staff, Gitan, or Rotten Onigiri can one-shot Cave Mamel.
Other options include Windblade Scroll, Sanctuary Scroll, Sluggish Staff, Slumber Scroll, and Jitters Scroll.
Monsters with Disguised status always receive 5 damage, so Disguising Staff is an option too.
Transmutation Pot for Blank Scrolls
Technique to obtain an infinite number of Blank Scrolls.
The Blank Scrolls can be used to reach +99 upgrade value if you spend enough time on it.
※ Transmutation Pot is quite rare, and currently thought to only appear starting on 4F.
Needed Items:
- Extraction Scroll (Blank Scroll)
- Transmutation Pot
- Items to insert into the Transmutation Pot (single arrows are best)
Steps:
- Insert items into the Transmutation Pot until the pot is full.
- Read the Extraction Scroll and select the Transmutation Pot to extract items.
- Repeat from step 1, using one of the Blank Scrolls from the Transmutation Pot as an Extraction Scroll.
- Write Pot-upsize on Blank Scrolls to raise the Transmutation Pot's capacity to 6 for best results.
- To ensure you can continue the loop, keep 3 or so Blank Scrolls on hand at all times.
Armordillo Bun for Items
If you find a Peach Staff between 1-4F, swing it at an Armordillo (3-4F) to obtain Armordillo Buns.
Then eat the Armordillo Bun and use Armordillo's ability to potentially make an enemy drop an item.
Remember to wait until 4F to farm items if you want to try for Transmutation Pot.
Peach Bun or Earthmound Staff for Arrows
The item table is usually generous, so there isn't a big need to collect arrows in this dungeon.
If you want collect arrows anyway for Transmutation Pot or such, 7-10F offers an easy opportunity.
Either swing a Peach Staff at a Crossbowboy → eat the Crossbowboy Bun → shoot arrows at a wall,
or create a pillar using Earthmound Staff and have a Crossbowboy shoot arrows at the pillar.
Floor Guide
1-4F
Check every room on each floor so you don't miss out on the Bronze Sword and Wooden Shield.
Pit Mamel (11 HP, 5 atk, 8 def) appears on 2-3F, so try to hunt Cave Mamemls if possible.
Keep the staff on hand if you found a Fortune Staff but have no way to defeat a Cave Mamel,
since you might encounter a bouncy wall room at some point.
Mid Chintala (45 HP, 23 atk, 10 def) spawns on 3-10F and hits quite hard without a shield.
Pumphantasm (23 HP, 16 atk, 10 def) appears on 3-4F and can pass through walls.
Some players like to throw an Eradication Scroll at one if they weren't able to level up.
If you found a Peach Staff, create 1~2 Armordillo Buns on 3-4F to collect more items.
4-10F
Mid Chintala is still around, and Karakuroid (40 HP, 20 atk, 13 def) appears on 4-5F.
If you have a Peach Staff, create a Karakuroid Bun and collect some Poison Arrows from traps.
When using an Armordillo Bun, it's best to eradicate Karakuroid instead of Pumphantasm.
Masked Samurai (47 HP, 18 atk, 18 def) appears on 5-10F, and spawns a Ghost Samurai when slain.
If you don't have items that can one-shot Ghost Samurai, just throw an Eradication Scroll at it.
Remember that staves do not work against Hoppin' Hitter (32 HP, 22 atk, 15 def).
Bowboy (45 HP, 17 atk, 18 def) and Crossbowboy (55 HP, 20 atk, 20 def) appear on 7-10F.
Arrows aren't essential to collect unless you're reusing a Transmutation Pot for Blank Scrolls,
in which case you'll probably want at least 200 arrows.
11-14F
Power types like Tiger Thrower (68 HP, 26 atk, 22 def) and Metalhead (66 HP, 30 atk, 19 def) spawn.
Don't hesitate to use items like Poison Arrow or Sluggish Staff if you're having a rough time,
and if you're using more items than you're gaining by checking rooms, switch to rushing stairs.
Mudkin (70 HP, 5 atk, 9 def) spawns on 11-14F and lowers a weapon or shield's upgrade value by 1.
Consider using Plating Scroll to defend against it so Eradication can be used on a monk instead.
If you're struggling and have a Fortune Staff, create Lv3-4 Mudkins on 11F and hunt them to level up.
All 5 types of monks appear between 12-16F, so avoid leveling up Mudkins on those floors.
Okina Monk D (70 HP, 25 atk, 25 def) and Hannya Monk D (66 HP, 37 atk, 25 def) cause problems,
so consider throwing an Eradication Scroll at one of them to make things a little easier.
15-19F
You'll usually burn through more resources than you gain if you check rooms, so just rush stairs.
Sanctuary Scroll isn't very effective against monsters like Pop Tank, Explochin, and Flamepuff.
Polygon Shaka (74 HP, 34 atk, 33 def) is tough and warps to you, so throw an Eradication Scroll at it.
20F
This floor is guaranteed to be a single large room Monster House (Special Monster House is possible).
2 Windblade Scrolls should be enough to handle the enemies if it's a regular Monster House.
If it's a Special Monster House, buy time with Confusion Scroll and use movement staves to reach the stairs.
Don't forget to stock up on Blank Scrolls before clearing the dungeon if you found a Transmutation Pot.
