An incredibly short Mystery Dungeon which consists of only 5 floors.
The lineup of monsters changes each floor, and trading attacks quickly becomes difficult.
There is a slight possibility for the player to keep up with enemies, but evasive play is often better.
The starting room on 5F is always a Monster House, so you'll want to save items to deal with it.
Items are found with identified names, so you shouldn't have to gamble on unidentified items on 5F.
There's no reward, but the game does keep track of consecutive clears.
Strategy
Important Items
Break-Off Shield
Shiren starts with this shield equipped, but unequip it against weaker enemies.
Break-Off Blade
Great to have starting from around 2F.
The resonance effect for the Break-Off set occasionally nullifies upgrade value loss.
Tiptoe Bracelet
Item that significantly raises your chance of clearing the dungeon #1.
Enemies never wake from Shiren entering or exiting rooms, including Monster Houses.
Narrow-escape Staff
Item that significantly raises your chance of clearing the dungeon #2.
Enemy positions are revealed on the map whenever a Monster House is activated,
so you can swing this at a monster on 5F to instantly locate the stairs.
Sweet Potato, Leaping Grass, Disguising / Switching / Vaulting Staves, Slumber / Jitters Scrolls
Some of the items you'll want to keep on hand to deal with the Monster House on 5F.
Sweet Potato is likely the best option, but otherwise a scroll → Disguising Staff works well too.
However, Confusion Scroll is NOT recommended since it can result in an Archdragon.
Peach Staff
One-shot nearly any monster, and Pumphantasm Bun or Soul Reaper Bun lets you pass through walls.
Break-Off set equipment doesn't lose upgrade value while morphed as a monster.
Berserk Seed
Throw it at a Pit Mamel on 1F → hunt the resulting Cave Mamel to reach Lv10.
Gitan
Shops never seem to be generated, so Gitan should be thrown as a projectile.
Nice against Soul Reaper (375+ Gitan) and Lashagga (495+ Gitan) on 4F in particular.
Cashing Pot
Insert spare weapons or shields to obtain more Gitan bags to be used as projectiles.
Evasive / Heat-ban Incense
Evasive Incense is helpful on 2F (Porky) and 3F (Crossbowboy).
Heat-ban Incense is helpful on 3F (Pop Tank) and 5F (Ornery Tank, Dragon, Sky Dragon).
Aggressive / Defensive Incense
Aggressive Incense can be nice if you obtain lots of arrows or rocks.
Defensive Incense is nice if you find lots of movement related staves to allow for evasive play.
Floor Guide
1F
This is usually the only floor where the player can hunt monsters to level up until the wind blows.
Remove Break-Off Shield unless you're fighting a Pumphantasm (23 HP) or Bored Kappa (50 HP).
Bored Kappa can be safely slain by placing an item on the ground and having it loop its item throw.
Step on Gitan bags and exchange them with inventory items so that you can throw them as projectiles.
Place Break-Off Shield on the ground before fighting Nigiri Baby (17 HP) so that you don't lose it.
Nigiri Baby can be used to increase Max Fullness, but doing so is questionable for a 5F dungeon.
Aim for 21+ Max HP before advancing to the next floor, since Porky can deal 20 damage.
Monster Stats
Monster | HP | Atk | Def |
---|---|---|---|
Pit Mamel | 11 | 5 | 8 |
Spearfish | 16 | 6 | 2 |
Hoppin' Batter | 20 | 7 | 3 |
Nigiri Baby | 17 | 8 | 2 |
Firepuff | 20 | 7 | 7 |
Froggo | 23 | 10 | 13 |
Pumphantasm | 23 | 16 | 10 |
Bored Kappa | 50 | 18 | 11 |
2F
Floor that is still on the manageable side in terms of checking rooms for items.
If you have Gitan bags and a Paralyzing Staff, try to hunt a leveled up monster via Ghost Samurai.
Skull Mage (77 HP) and Dragon Head (88 HP) have high HP and attack power, so use items as needed.
Porky (30 HP) has a rock throwing range of 3 tiles, so use arrows, staves, grass, or scrolls to disable it.
Collect some Porky's Rocks from a Porky if you have an Evasive Incense.
Monster Stats
Monster | HP | Atk | Def |
---|---|---|---|
Polygon Spinna | 33 | 16 | 17 |
Masked Samurai | 47 | 18 | 18 |
Water Ninja D | 24 | 15 | 9 |
Porky | 30 | 17 | 12 |
Fresh Octopling | 60 | 19 | 14 |
Karakuroid | 40 | 20 | 13 |
Skull Mage | 77 | 31 | 21 |
Dragon Head | 88 | 31 | 25 |
3F
Enemy stats get a significant increase, so fighting without items becomes very difficult.
The notable exception to this is if you have the Break-Off set and a Peach Bun to nullify upgrade loss.
It's risky, but Pop Tank (90 HP) can be leveled up into an Ornery Tank for 1500 experience points.
Blazeous (92 HP) and Mixermon (98 HP) are resistant to projectiles, so use staves or scrolls.
Don't bother collecting Iron Arrows from Crossbowboy (55 HP).
If you found enough items on 1-2F for the 5F Monster House, it's probably best to rush to the stairs.
However, you'll want to check rooms for items if that isn't the case, since 4-5F are even harsher.
Monster Stats
Monster | HP | Atk | Def |
---|---|---|---|
Crossbowboy | 55 | 20 | 20 |
Minotaur | 70 | 31 | 20 |
Pop Tank | 90 | 20 | 24 |
Schubell | 50 | 20 | 20 |
Zapdon | 80 | 43 | 35 |
Blazeous | 92 | 36 | 24 |
Master Hen | 70 | 33 | 21 |
Mixermon | 98 | 50 | 35 |
4F
Soul Reaper (75 HP) and Lashagga (99 HP) appear, so rush to the stairs as fast as possible.
Avoid dashing even short distances, and ignore breakable pillars in rooms and sparkling walls.
Burrowing Staves and Pickaxes can be used to reduce the number of turns spent navigating hallways.
Greenwalrus (88 HP) has too much HP to hunt for item drops, so just have it steal an unneeded item.
Dartingfrog (75 HP) has a tongue pulling range of 5 tiles, and always uses its special when in range.
If you have lots of items to spare, step in place to lure Soul Reapers at the start of the floor,
then use said items to disable them before searching for the stairs.
Monster Stats
Monster | HP | Atk | Def |

Metal Ninja C | 85 | 42 | 29 |
Fire Ninja C | 75 | 45 | 21 |
Greenwalrus | 88 | 30 | 27 |
Dartingfrog | 75 | 40 | 28 |
Lashagga | 99 | 43 | 34 |
Soul Reaper | 75 | 40 | 40 |
Tiger Hurler | 135 | 50 | 45 |
5F
The starting room is guaranteed to be a Monster House on this floor.
To be clear, the Monster House is a regular room as opposed to a single-room Monster House floor.
Use item combos like Slumber Scroll → Switching Staff / Vaulting Staff / Leaping Grass to quickly escape.
All enemies present on the floor become visible on the map after a Monster House is activated,
so Narrow-escape Staff can be used to instantly locate the stairs.
Heat-ban Incense is helpful against Dragons (120 HP), Sky Dragons (140 HP), and Ornery Tanks (95 HP).
Every monster in the table on this floor can pierce through even an unused Break-Off Shield's defense,
so it's important to disable or defeat monsters before they get a chance to act.
