Preservation Pot
Pot that lets you insert and take out items freely.
Onigiri inside the pot won't be grilled or spoiled, and peaches won't ripen.
Once identified, you can change the name of the pot at will, which is helpful
when storing items in Nekomaneki Village or inside storage buildings.
Insert Gitan to use as projectiles, protect staves from Gyadon's pecking, etc.
Buy/+1 | 600 / 30 | Rune | - | Item Book | You can freely store and withdraw items with this. You can name the items after identifying them. (It's convenient to keep items you like or rename ones to help you remember how they're used.) |

such as Mixer synthesis ingredients or high value items to sell in shops.
Another option is to intentionally fill the pot with Dirt from a Scoopie.

Hide Pot
Grants Hiding status for 20 turns, making enemies unable to detect you.
Inflicts Hiding status when thrown, trapping the creature until they're attacked.
Instant game over if Shiren enters the pot while standing on a water or air tile.
Can't be filled with Dirt from Scoopie special attacks.
Shiren can still enter the pot if its capacity is reduced to 0 by a Gyandora,
but a Hide Pot [0] won't inflict Hiding status when thrown at a target.
Talking to a hiding ally cancels their Hiding status.
Buy/+1 | 600 / 30 | Rune | - | Item Book | By inserting yourself into this pot, you enter Hiding status or you can throw it at a target to give them Hiding status and trap them inside. |

4-2-8 Pot
Causes a big explosion to occur when it shatters. (1 tile radius)
Sealing the pot will prevent it from exploding, allowing you to safely retrieve contents.
Shiren's current HP will be reduced to 1, and all enemies caught in the blast vanish.
If thrown with piercing properties, each target it hits will explode.
All other 4-2-8 Pots will be identified when one explodes.
One of the few items that can one-shot Gyazas.
The name is a reference to 428: Shibuya Scramble.
Buy/+1 | 600 / 30 | Rune | - | Item Book | Giving this pot a little shock will make it explode. It was originally worn by a store employee to draw a crowd. That pot was actually 4-2-8 Pot, and it got stuck on his face, which caused them to freak out. |

Sale Pot
Transforms inserted items into Gitan equal to their selling price.
The maximum amount per item is 9999G, and it also works on merchandise.
Gitan inside the Sale Pot won't be included when you sell the pot in a dungeon,
but will be included if sold at a shop located in a village.
Lets you recover from a Bankruptcy Scroll, but it's dangerous to carry it on floors
where Gazers appear since they can make you insert equipped items.
Buy/+1 | 1000 / 50 | Rune | - | Item Book | Items inserted into this pot will be converted into their Gitan value. |

Presto Pot
Transforms inserted items into other items. (no effect on merchandise)
Recommended to insert a single arrow or rock at a time.
Presto Pots have a unique item table, but you generally can't obtain anything
too special except for Kabura Katana or Fuuma Shield in select dungeons.
Be careful with your selection, since it's easy to insert equipped items by mistake.
Similar to Shiren 4, inserted items can't transform into pots in this game.

Sticky Pot
Inflicts Shiren with Potted status when you try to insert an item,
unequipping your weapon and preventing you from using items or abilities.
If you have Immune status, your hand won't get stuck. (weapon is still unequipped)
Potted status is canceled when you change floors or step on a Strip Trap.
Chance to break free when you attack or get hit by enemies.
It's mostly a negative item, but can be used to unequip a cursed weapon.
The pot won't shatter when you change floors, so insert an item → change floors
to use it like an Ordinary Pot. (1 item per floor)
Your hand getting stuck can cause you to lose Super status.
Deals 2 damage when thrown.
Buy/+1 | 1000 / 50 | Rune | - | Item Book | If you try to insert an item, your hand will get stuck and you'll gain Potted status. (While afflicted with Potted status, your weapon will be unequipped and you will be unable to use any items.) |

Unbreakable Pot
Pot that can't break, even when thrown against a wall.
It won't break even if sealed, and the pot and its contents is lost if thrown at an enemy.
The only way to retrieve its contents is to use an Extraction Scroll.
Can be used to store Revival Grass or Undo Grass if you don't plan on blessing them,
but otherwise the only practical use for it is to insert items to be sold later.
Buy/+1 | 1000 / 50 | Rune | - | Item Book | This pot won't break even after you toss it at a wall. If you want to extract what's inside, find an item that can suck it out. |

Floramorph Pot
Transforms inserted items into Flowers.
Flowers only exist inside the pot, and will vanish if you try to take them out.
The only practical use of this pot is to intentionally fill it with Dirt from a Scoopie.
There are 10 types of flowers, and they all have unique entries in the Item Book.
The What you need is...? problem in Statue Cave has a Floramorph Pot
which can be used to quickly fill out the flower entries.

Black Hole Pot
Inserted items vanish, and a number of Pit Traps equal to capacity appear if it breaks.
Pit Traps appear even in shops, so breaking this pot is the safest way to steal.
Pit Traps still appear when the pot is sealed, but not when its capacity is 0,
so it's best to seal the pot to prevent Scoopies from filling it with Dirt.
This is the only 1000G range pot that can have an initial capacity of 2.
For obvious reasons, it can never be found in shops.
Buy/+1 | 1000 / 50 | Rune | - | Item Book | Items inserted into this pot will vanish somewhere. Cracking it will generate the same number of Pit Trap as the pot's capacity. |

Fever Pot
Fill the pot with same name items to double the number of items. (The pot shatters)
Explodes if different items are inserted, so be wary of Bored Kappas and Scoopies.
Unlike 4-2-8 Pot, other Fever Pots won't be identified when one breaks or explodes.
Always has an initial capacity of 3, and mostly found in shops.
Commonly used to duplicate rare items like Wonder Pick and Angel Seed.
See Tips and Tricks to learn about duplication techniques.
It's important to learn the details about how it works to avoid item loss:
Same Name | Runes, upgrade value, tag, blessing, curse, seal are ignored. Same type but different name equipment will fail. (example: Ordinary Stick + Ogre's Club) |
---|---|
Post-Duplication | Runes, upgrade value, tag, blessing, curse, seal are reset. Staves, talismans, arrows, and rocks will have a random use count or quantity in the same initial ranges that naturally generated items on the ground have. |
Pot Capacity | Items won't duplicate with a capacity of 1, but will duplicate with a capacity of 2. Duplicating with a capacity of 2 will result in 4 items. |
Buy/+1 | 1000 / 50 | Rune | - | Item Book | If you fill the pot with nothing but the same item until it is filled, those items will double in number. However, if you put in a different item, it will explode. |

while equipped, so it doesn't have a chance to shine that often.

Reflection Pot
Insert an item to create a purple fragrance that reflects magic.
The effect applies to every creature on the current floor, and things like staves,
DJ Mage magic, Gazer hypnosis, and Polygon Spinna dances will be reflected.
However, Fearabbit's hat trick isn't considered magic, so it won't be reflected.
The fragrance remains in effect even if you collapse.
The drawback of not being able to use staves regularly is significant, but it allows
for some techniques like warping Shiren to the stairs using a Transient Staff,
or granting Swift status to yourself using a Swift Staff, etc.
Buy/+1 | 2500 / 125 | Rune | - | Item Book | Burns inserted items to create a fragrance. The fragrance will grant everyone on the floor Reflective status. (While in Reflective status, you'll reflect magic cast on you.) |

Heal Pot
Fully restores HP and strength, and cures some status conditions.
Examples of curable ailments include Confused and Blind status, but not Slow.
It's best to waste one use to check if it's sealed, or to confirm if it's real if you
found it on a floor where higher level N'dubba monsters can appear.
Synthesize a weapon with this and Heal Bracelet to create the Healing rune.

Zalokleft Pot
Releases a Zalokleft that fetches an item in front, excluding pots and Catstones.
Its range is 10 tiles in a straight line, and it can travel across water tiles
but stops if it hits a pot, wall, or air tile. Break the pot to retrieve fetched items.
If it shatters when capacity is above 0, Confused Zaloklefts equal to capacity appear.
Using an Extraction Scroll on a Zalokleft Pot full of items won't restore capacity.
All other Zalokleft Pots will be identified if you break an unidentified one.
The Zalokleft won't come out of the pot if it's opened inside a shop,
so you'll have to open it from a hallway to steal items.
Buy/+1 | 3500 / 175 | Rune | - | Item Book | Open this pot and a Zalokleft will jump out and pick up an item in front. It won't pick up pots. |

Monster Pot
A number of hostile monsters equal to capacity jump out when the pot is opened.
The monsters won't act on the turn they jumped out unless they're naturally Swift.
All other Monster Pots will be identified if you break an unidentified one.
The pot vanishes when opened, so keep that in mind when shopping.
If thrown against a wall, the monsters will have Confused status.
Use it to generate Grass Kids to obtain some extra grass items,
increase your defeated enemy count to activate Super status / gain bonuses,
or activate the Cross formation in a hallway intersection to replenish abilities, etc.
If opened in storage buildings, Bashaggas, Doom Gyazas, and Despoilers appear.

Hilarious Pot
Inflicts Laughing status on a target in front of you for 6 turns.
The laughter is contagious and travels to other monsters in the room as turns pass.
Shutting down a room in exchange for 1 use is good, but it doesn't last long,
and every enemy in the room stops laughing when one of them stops.
Can be thrown for the same effect if the pot's capacity is above 0.
Useful for waking up Monster Houses before entering them in Onigiri Hollow.
This is the only "Open" type pot that can have an inital capacity of 2.
The pot can work through corners, so there's no need to throw it.
Swift monsters will only laugh for 3 turns, so defeat them first.
Buy/+1 | 3500 / 175 | Rune | - | Item Book | Open this pot to afflict the target in front with Laughing status. (Creatures afflicted with Laughing status are immobilized. The power of laughter is contagious.) |

Klein Pot
Grants Klein status when opened, switching your attack and defense for 20 turns.
Inflicts Klein status for 20 turns when thrown, which can be an effective way
to deal with high power monsters like the Shagga family.
It's on the rare side and also tricky to use, so many players don't bother with it.
Some high power monsters like the Eligan family also have high defense,
so it's best to check their stats before throwing the pot.
Buy/+1 | 3500 / 175 | Rune | - | Item Book | Open this pot to give yourself Klein status. When thrown at a target, they will gain Klein status. (Klein status swaps your attack and defense values.) |

Fully restores HP, strength, and fullness, cures all negative status conditions,
and grants Swift status for 15 turns and Invincible status for 20 turns.

Synthesis Pot
Synthesizes inserted weapons, shields, or staves. (See Synthesis for mechanics)
Synthesis Pots are always found with an initial capacity of 5 in this game.
The existence of Modder's Pot makes it a bit risky to assume 7500G pots
are Synthesis Pots in select dungeons, so some players prefer to insert
items to be sold later and go with Mixers for synthesis instead.
Buy/+1 | 6000 / 300 | Rune | - | Item Book | If you insert items of the same type, the item placed inside first will be synthesized with the second item. Weapons and shields will combine their abilities and upgrade value, while staves with the same names will have their remaining uses combined. |

Modder's Pot
Synthesizes inserted weapons, shields, or staves. (See Synthesis for mechanics)
However, the pot is unbreakable even if sealed, and vanishes if thrown at an enemy.
The only way to retrieve contents is to use an Extraction Scroll, so players mostly
insert items they plan on selling, or as storage for Revival Grass.
Synthesis Pots always have an initial capacity of 5, so any pot with an initial capacity
of 3~4 that synthesizes items is this pot. Additionally, it only starts appearing from
18F in Primordial Chasm, and 12F in Destiny's Descent.
Buy/+1 | 6000 / 300 | Rune | - | Item Book | If you insert items of the same type, the item placed inside first will be synthesized with the second item. This pot won't break even when dashed against a wall. Weapons and shields will combine abilities and upgrade value, while staves with the same names will have their remaining uses combined. |

Upgrade Pot
Increases the upgrade value and use counts of inserted weapons, shields,
and staves by 1 as well as the value of inserted Gitan when you change floors.
Unlike Shiren 4, the pot has a high chance of shattering when items are upgraded.
Synthesize with a weapon or shield to create the Refining rune.
※ Contents will vanish if you synthesize a non-empty Upgrade Pot.
Buy/+1 | 10000 / 500 | Rune | Refining | Item Book | Insert an item and travel through the dungeon to increase upgrade level of weapons or shields and increase the charges of staves. Gitan value will rise constantly. When an item is upgraded, the pot can sometimes break on its own. |

Degrade Pot
Decreases the upgrade value and use counts of inserted weapons, shields,
and staves by 1 as well as the value of inserted Gitan when you change floors.
Unlike Shiren 4, the pot has a high chance of shattering when items are degraded.
Can be used like an Ordinary Pot for select item categories.
Otherwise, it's best to sell it or intentionally fill it with Dirt from a Scoopie.
Buy/+1 | 10000 / 500 | Rune | - | Item Book | Insert an item and travel through the dungeon to reduce upgrade level of weapons or shields and decrease the charges of staves. Gitan value will fall constantly. When an item is weakened, the pot can sometimes break on its own. |

Unlucky Pot
Chance for an inventory item to be cursed or sealed when changing floors while carrying it.
Excludes items inside pots, and no special effects when items are inserted.
The item is selected at random, and has a decent activation rate.
It's best to discard it right away, or insert items and then seal to prevent its effect.
You could use it to increase the critical hit rate of Mojo Bracelet, but since you can't
control which items become cursed or sealed, it's usually not worth the risk.

Tomie: ...! Hey! Did you just push the switch on my back!? You're supposed to read the item description before you use it! Every wanderer knows that! It clearly says "DO NOT PUSH"! Geez, how did you make it this far? ...Well, might as well say my piece since you're here. My name is Tomie. I'm an old hand at Spike Chunsoft. So old that I'm nearly retirement age. Shiren the Wanderer, Banshee's Last Cry... I've seen some titles in my day. We devs got along good over the years. Old, young, age doesn't matter... They work us to the bone, all the same. Hasegawa... You may not know the name, but you know his art. His version of Shiren is iconic! And Nagahata, he's the only know who knows what to tweak under the hood to keep the game balanced. Then there's me, worrying about making a new Shiren the Wanderer. I gotta consider the budget and the needs of the company. Can we do it? More importantly, should we do it? I'm too wishy-washy to take the first step. If only... If only someone gave me a push. ...? Wait, didn't somebody just do exactly that? Ah, I'm going senile... Can you give me one more push? ...No? You can't? In that case... Can you make your voice heard? If all the Shiren fans across the world speak out, surely someone will hear... Who knows, your voices might make it all the way to the people in charge. Wouldn't be the first time our overlords got fired up over fan demand. Anyway, if a sequel gets green-lit, you can bet I'll give it my all. The series has a reputation to live up to. And the fans expect nothing less than the best! I won't let them down. Ah, this is all hypothetical, of course. But it's nice to think about, isn't it? Until we meet again, I'll be here, dreaming... Of a new Shiren the Wanderer title. - F A R E W E L L - |
Buy/+1 | 47250 / 2250 | Rune | - | Item Book | A snazzy pot received by beating The Pinnacle. There's a button on the back with a note that says "DO NOT PUSH." You'd be better of selling it. But then... You wouldn't find out what happens if you push the button. You want to know, don't you? |
